Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by identifying the main trends, such as the overall increase in visitors. However, the description of the data is often imprecise and lacks specific numerical data points, which are essential for an Academic Task 1 response. For instance, you mention 'rose up' and 'fall down' without citing the actual figures from the graph. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to grammatical issues. To improve, ensure you select key data points (start, end, and peaks) to support your summary, rather than relying on vague descriptions of movement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'after it fall down remain same' and 'after that 2013 to 2017 was grown'. The progression of ideas is occasionally difficult to follow because the sentences are disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'subsequently', 'in contrast', 'meanwhile') and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one to create a more cohesive narrative.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic verbs like 'rose', 'increased', and 'same'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'rose down' (which is contradictory) and 'ratio of visitors' (where 'number' or 'proportion' would be more accurate). The range is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focus on learning synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and practice using them in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement ('The graph illustrate', 'ratio... is rose') and tense inconsistencies ('was grown', 'was slightly increased'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent and affect the fluency of the writing. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past data. Proofreading for small errors like missing articles ('the') will also significantly improve your score.
