Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, including the total number of visitors and the two categories (island and cruise). You successfully identified the overall trends and provided key data points for 2010, 2015, and 2017. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, relying heavily on listing figures rather than synthesizing the information. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons between the two categories are more explicit throughout the body paragraphs. For instance, noting that cruise ship visitors eventually overtook island-staying visitors would have strengthened the analytical aspect of the report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally clear. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical, particularly the frequent use of 'The next is' and 'it was'. Transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs feels a bit disjointed due to the reliance on simple sentence structures and repetitive linking phrases.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the necessary information clearly. You use terms like 'increased', 'declined', and 'stable' appropriately. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a lack of more sophisticated or varied vocabulary to describe trends (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'surged', 'plateaued'). There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'increased at high rate' (should be 'at a high rate') and 'decreased in last' (should be 'in the last year'). Expanding your range of collocations would improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include 'the visitors staying on island has increased' (subject-verb agreement), 'it finally reached to 3.5 million' (incorrect preposition usage), and 'was 1.5 million in 2017' (missing subject). The punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels repetitive. To improve, focus on varying your sentence structure and ensuring consistent subject-verb agreement and correct prepositional usage.
