Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the content is incomplete; while it mentions cruise ship visitors, it fails to provide any data or analysis for the visitors staying on the island, which was a key part of the prompt. The overview is present but lacks sufficient detail to fully summarize the main features of the graph. To improve, ensure all categories shown in the graph are addressed and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the trends over the entire period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into an introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph, which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is limited by the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However' and 'Overall', but they are somewhat mechanical. The lack of a concluding summary or a more detailed body paragraph makes the overall flow feel disjointed. To improve, use a wider range of linking words to connect sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that contributes to the overall summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. Phrases like 'rapidly rose' and 'rapid growing trend' are repetitive and lack variety. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'In beginning' instead of 'In the beginning' and 'coming years' which is slightly unnatural in this context. To reach a higher band, incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and ensure accurate collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. Examples include 'The travelers was staying' (subject-verb agreement), 'next two years there been a lot fluctuations' (missing verb/preposition), and 'reaching to approximately' (unnecessary preposition). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct use of articles, and the accurate construction of complex sentences to describe trends, such as using 'while' or 'whereas' to contrast the two categories of visitors.
