Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the task and presents a clear overview of the trends. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the overall growth in visitor numbers and the specific fluctuations in cruise ship passengers. However, the overview is slightly inaccurate; you state that the total number of visitors recorded the 'highest figure,' which is vague, and you mention cruise ship numbers 'fluctuated' without noting the significant upward trend. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most significant trends (e.g., the overall upward trajectory) rather than just listing categories. The data points are generally accurate, though ensure you distinguish clearly between the three categories (total, island stay, and cruise) to avoid confusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'At the beginning of the period,' 'After that,' and 'Subsequently' to guide the reader through the timeline. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping the data more effectively. For instance, the third paragraph mixes island stay data with general trends, which disrupts the flow. Using more varied linking phrases and ensuring each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the logical progression of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated,' 'increased significantly,' 'remained stable,' and 'surged.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'reached at' (should be 'reached') and 'sored' (likely a misspelling of 'soared'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the information clearly, it lacks the sophistication required for a higher band. To reach a higher score, try to incorporate more precise reporting verbs and adverbs to describe the trends, such as 'witnessed a sharp climb' or 'experienced a marginal decline.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'total 1 million of visitors' (should be 'a total of 1 million visitors') and 'reached at during 2013' (incorrect preposition usage). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and tense consistency. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions with verbs like 'reach' or 'increase' will help improve your accuracy.
