Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The graph illustrates the the total number of tourists visiting a particular Caribbean island between the years 2010 and 2017.
Overall, it is evident that there were significant differences among the years, while the number of visitors staying on cruise ships increased greatly over time, the number of visitors staying on island tend to decline more. Furthermore, it is evident that the total amount of visitors wether staying in cruises or inland has significantly grew from 1 million visitors to 3.5 million over the next 7 years.
Beyond this, it is vital to consider the the difference between the amount of visitors on the island and on a cruise remains roughly the same in 2010 and 2017. Moreover, the trend of the number of visitors staying on cruise ships is more steady, showing only a slight fluctuations in the beginning ([redacted phone]). Whereas, the trend of vistors staying on island fluctuates more and has not increased as much since 2010, with only an increase of 1 million tourists. To add on, there is a crossover between the two lines middway through 2015, indicating that the the number of vistors staying in ships and on island were the same.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You highlighted the significant growth in total visitors and correctly identified the crossover point in 2015. However, the report contains some inaccuracies regarding the data. For instance, you state that the difference between cruise and island visitors remains 'roughly the same' in 2010 and 2017, which is not supported by the graph. Additionally, the claim that the number of visitors staying on the island 'tended to decline' is inaccurate, as the line shows an upward trend, albeit slower than cruise tourism. To improve, ensure that your descriptions of trends strictly align with the visual data provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Beyond this', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. The transition between the overview and the detailed analysis is clear, but some cohesive devices are used in a slightly mechanical way. Paragraphing is present, but the body paragraph is quite dense and could be split to better separate the discussion of the two different visitor types for improved readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significant differences', 'fluctuations', and 'crossover'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'wether' instead of 'whether', 'middway' instead of 'midway', and 'vistors'. The phrase 'total amount of visitors' is slightly imprecise; 'total number of visitors' is preferred for countable nouns. While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the errors occasionally distract the reader. Focusing on accurate spelling and precise collocations will help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'the number of visitors staying on cruise ships increased greatly over time, the number of visitors staying on island tend to decline more'. This specific sentence is a comma splice and contains a subject-verb agreement error ('tend' should be 'tended'). There are also issues with verb tenses, such as 'has significantly grew', which should be 'has significantly grown'. While your meaning is generally clear, the frequency of grammatical errors—particularly with verb forms and punctuation—prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
