Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the main features. The description of the data is often vague, using phrases like 'almost 10%' or 'increase year by year' without referencing specific data points or trends clearly. The analysis of the graph is fragmented, and the conclusion is confusing, mentioning a '60%' increase which does not appear to be supported by the provided data. The response lacks a professional tone and fails to highlight key comparisons effectively, resulting in a limited summary of the information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often misused, such as 'Let's have elaborate them' and 'In cunclusion:'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. The transition between the different categories of visitors is abrupt, and the lack of clear signposting makes the overall structure feel disjointed. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively support the development of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'increase', 'decrease', and 'amount'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'strength of those visitors' instead of 'number of visitors' and 'total collection of visitors' instead of 'total number of visitors'. The student struggles to use precise terminology related to data description. Spelling errors, such as 'cunclusion', further detract from the quality of the writing. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with the necessary precision for an Academic Task 1 response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement ('The amount of those visitors are', 'The number of those visitors... are seems'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence structures. The use of punctuation is inconsistent, and the sentence construction is often simplistic or grammatically incorrect. While there is an attempt at complex structures, they are consistently faulty. The persistent errors in basic grammar significantly limit the clarity and professional tone required for this task.
