Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main trends, the analysis is incomplete. You mention that the number of visitors increased, but the description of the data is too brief and lacks sufficient detail to fully satisfy the task requirements. Specifically, the final sentence is incomplete, and the comparison between the two categories of visitors is underdeveloped. To improve, ensure you provide a comprehensive overview and include all necessary data points to support your summary, ensuring the response reaches the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is hindered by the brevity of the text and the incomplete final sentence. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic manner, such as 'Overall' and 'However', but the connections between sentences are often mechanical. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed because the data is not fully explained or linked effectively. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, fully developed topic sentence that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic verbs like 'increased' and 'was'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'visited to Caribbean island' (should be 'visited the Caribbean island') and 'it boost to' (should be 'it boosted to' or 'there was a boost to'). To achieve a higher band score, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to trends, such as 'surged', 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable'. Expanding your range of descriptive language will help you convey the information more accurately and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. For example, 'the number of visitors were increased' should be 'the number of visitors increased' (subject-verb agreement). There are also issues with articles, such as 'visited to Caribbean island' instead of 'the Caribbean island'. The sentence structure is generally simple, and the final sentence is incomplete, which is a significant grammatical failure. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, try to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using subordinate clauses, to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
