Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, including the overall upward trend and the specific data points for 2010 and 2017. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you correctly identify the start and end points, the description of the trends is repetitive and lacks a clear, analytical focus. For instance, the statement 'both number of visitor staying on island and on cruise ships show up and down movement' is inaccurate based on the provided data, which shows a generally consistent growth. To reach a higher band, ensure that your data reporting is precise and that you highlight the most significant trends rather than listing individual years in a repetitive manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'On the other hand' is used to contrast two trends that are actually similar in their growth. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, such as 'In 2107 highest number of visitors stay on island they are about 2 million.' The lack of smooth transitions between sentences makes the progression of ideas feel somewhat choppy. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'stying' instead of 'staying', 'vistiors' instead of 'visitors', and 'experinece' instead of 'experience'. Furthermore, the phrasing is often simplistic, relying on basic verbs like 'grew' or 'show'. To improve, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and ensure that you proofread carefully to eliminate basic spelling mistakes that distract the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement ('The graph reveal', 'numbers... is also indicate') and article usage. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity, such as 'In 2107 highest number of visitors stay on island they are about 2 million.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and full stops. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and using articles correctly before nouns.
