Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the overall growth and the comparison between cruise ship and island visitors. However, the data reporting is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, stating that the figure 'initialized at 0.25 millions' and then mentioning an elevation to '2 million' is difficult to follow, and the claim that the total grew by 2.75 million is not clearly supported by the visual data. The summary lacks precision in describing the trends, and the final conclusion is vague and confusingly phrased. To improve, ensure that data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are logically structured.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'At a first glance' and 'On other hand' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear references. For instance, the transition between the cruise ship data and the total visitor data is abrupt. The progression of ideas is not always smooth, making it difficult for the reader to follow the development of the argument. More varied and accurate linking words are needed to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, with several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation. Examples include 'initialized at' instead of 'started at', 'distinction of' instead of 'difference of', and 'supesed superseded'. The term 'sightseers' is used, but the overall range is narrow, and the misuse of basic terminology hinders the clarity of the report. There are also issues with article usage and pluralization, such as 'Amount of foreigners' and 'tourish staying on island'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and improving your control over word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with articles ('the' is often missing), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. For example, 'figure of travelers' should be 'the number of travelers', and 'Amount of Sightseers' is grammatically incorrect. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'Whereas sightseers staying on cruise ships supesed superseded, the tourist staying on island by 1.75 million in 2016.' Punctuation is also inconsistent. A stronger focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for grammatical accuracy is essential.
