Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, including the trends for both cruise and island visitors. However, the data reporting is inconsistent and contains several inaccuracies. For example, you state that 0.3 million and 0.6 million total 1 million, which is mathematically incorrect. Furthermore, the overview is somewhat vague and does not clearly highlight the most significant trends, such as the overall upward trajectory of both categories. To improve, ensure that your data points are accurate and that your overview provides a clear, high-level summary of the most important trends rather than just repeating specific figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. Transitions such as 'insitinally' (presumably 'initially') and 'Meanwhile' are used, but the connection between sentences is often weak. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the data. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that contributes to the overall summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains frequent spelling errors, such as 'spacific', 'appoxiemately', 'togethar', and 'reprasents'. These errors, combined with awkward collocations like 'experienced the stayings' and 'marginal big shares', impede the clarity of the report. While you attempt to use some descriptive language, the lack of precision in word choice prevents a higher score. You should focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and practicing collocations related to describing trends, such as 'significant increase' or 'fluctuated marginally'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('visitors staying... had a 0.6 million'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which affects readability. While you attempt to use complex structures, they are often inaccurate, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb tenses will also significantly improve the quality of your writing.
