Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to clearly distinguish between the two categories (cruise ship vs. island stay) throughout the report. While the main features are identified, the presentation is confusing, particularly regarding the figures for 2012 and 2017. The overview is poorly constructed, as it lacks clarity and fails to provide a meaningful summary of the trends. Some data points are inaccurate or poorly described, such as the mention of 'Sayani' (likely a typo) and the inconsistent reporting of visitor numbers. The response addresses the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently interrupted by unclear phrasing and awkward transitions. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin' and 'Moving towards for the further details,' but they are often mechanical or misused. Referencing is problematic; for example, the transition between the cruise ship data and the island stay data is abrupt and confusing. The lack of clear sentence structure makes it difficult for the reader to follow the development of the information across the years.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'increased' and 'staying.' There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard phrasing, such as 'Staying of total visitors' and 'Sayani of visitor.' The spelling of numbers and the formatting of data points (e.g., '0.5 to0.3') are inconsistent and detract from the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1 report. The range is insufficient to convey the information with the necessary precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('visitors... are remained same'), tense usage, and sentence construction. Punctuation is often missing or incorrectly placed, particularly around numbers. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are frequently faulty, leading to confusion. The majority of sentences contain errors, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band score.
