Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview. You covered all three categories (cruise, island, and total) and made relevant comparisons. However, the report lacks precision in data reporting. For instance, you mention 'nearly 0' for cruise visitors in 2010, but the graph shows a specific starting point. Additionally, the description of the 'total' category is somewhat vague. To improve, ensure you include specific data points from the graph to support your descriptions, such as the exact starting or ending figures for each category, rather than relying on general terms like 'nearly 0' or 'sturdy growth'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally clear. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In 2010' and 'Then', to link your sentences. However, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is slightly abrupt, and some cohesive devices are used mechanically. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid, particularly when contrasting the different categories of visitors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'fluctuating', 'plunged', and 'upward trend'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'living on cruise' should be 'staying on cruise ships', and 'crossing tourist preferred island' is unclear. Additionally, the phrase 'amount of people' is technically incorrect as 'number of people' is required for countable nouns. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For instance, 'illustrates the information about number of visitors visited' should be 'illustrates the number of visitors who visited'. There are also issues with article usage ('the' is missing before 'number') and subject-verb agreement ('number of people... have shown' should be 'has shown'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
