Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, including the overall upward trend and the specific data points for cruise ship and island visitors. However, the reporting of data is occasionally imprecise or confusing, such as the mention of '1 million in the initial year' which contradicts the visual data. The summary of the cruise ship data is somewhat disjointed, and the distinction between the two categories could be clearer. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are accurately transcribed and that the overview clearly highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and an overview. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'and' to connect clauses. Transitions like 'Moving towards the further information' are slightly unnatural. While there is a clear progression of ideas, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to show relationships between the data points more fluidly. Paragraphing is present but the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'cruice' (cruise), 'AFter' (After), and 'vitnessed' (witnessed). Additionally, some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'count of visitors' used repeatedly instead of varying the terminology with words like 'figures', 'numbers', or 'tourist arrivals'. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring accurate spelling of key terms related to the graph.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('fluctuations was noticed', 'number of tourist stayed... was same') and prepositional errors ('reached at peak', 'reached at 2 millions'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
