Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. While the main trend of an increase is identified, the description of the data is often confusing and inaccurate. For instance, the claim that there was a 'dramaticaly fall in the 2010' is not supported by the graph, which shows a starting point rather than a decline. The reporting of figures is inconsistent and lacks precision, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends. To improve, you must focus on accurately extracting data points and describing the overall trend without inventing information not present in the visual.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed and often illogical. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and frequently misused, such as the repetitive and awkward use of 'the next year' and 'then above'. The lack of clear referencing makes it difficult to understand which years or figures are being discussed. The sentences often lack logical connection, resulting in a text that is hard to follow. To improve, focus on using transition words like 'subsequently', 'meanwhile', or 'in contrast' to link your sentences and ensure each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to describe the data effectively. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the diagram the dramaticaly fall' and 'the tourists is high in the 2.7 million'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends (e.g., using 'increase' repeatedly instead of more precise terms like 'rose', 'climbed', or 'surged'). Many phrases are non-standard, which occasionally impedes communication. You should focus on learning specific vocabulary for describing graphs, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', and 'gradual increase'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often distort the intended meaning. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The graph display', 'tourists is'), article usage, and sentence structure. Most sentences are simple and contain errors, and there is no evidence of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which further hinders readability. To improve, you should practice basic sentence construction, focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of tenses when describing past data. Reviewing the difference between countable and uncountable nouns will also help reduce errors.
