Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully identifies the main trends and provides a clear overview. You have highlighted the key features, such as the overall growth and the crossover between cruise ship and island-staying tourists. However, the report could be improved by including more specific data points to support the descriptions. For instance, while you mention a 'drastic surge' in 2016, providing the exact figures for the other categories in that year would strengthen the analysis. The summary is accurate, but ensuring that all comparisons are fully supported by the provided data will help you reach a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group information by category. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'As a result' to connect ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the transition between the overview and the detailed body paragraphs is smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'dramatically', and 'substantial'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'grabbed the second postion' and 'soar' used as a noun, which sound slightly unnatural in an academic context. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your vocabulary is consistently formal. Your spelling is generally accurate, which is a positive aspect of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('at lowest', 'in the middle', 'in span of one year') and minor punctuation issues. Some sentences lack necessary articles, which affects the overall fluency. To reach a higher band, focus on consistent article usage and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy. Despite these errors, your writing remains easy to follow and communication is not impeded.
