Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The number of tourists who visited to Caribbean island over the period of seven years is illustrated by linear representation.

Overall, it is crystal clear that the number of total visitors was maximum as compared to other two categories.

Having a quick glance, it is evident that the number of total visitors was initiated from 1 million to 2 million between 2010 to 2013, followed by 2.5 million people visiting to island in the next year. Interestingly, from 2015 to 2016 it was stabled at 2.7 million visiting, then it dramatically increased to 3.5 million by 2017. However, the number of tourists who staying on island was below than1million by 2011, approximately 1.5 million visitors who stayed at an island from 2012 to 2015.

Moving towards the rest of the information where people who was staying on island shows greater difference until 2017 1.5 million people who stayed there. Whereas, 0.2 million visitors who staying on cruise ships which was roughly estimated to 1 million by 2014, In contrast, it shows upward trend until the over of time period it was accounts for 2 million by 2017 this figures shows least growth in it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, including the total visitors and the two sub-categories (staying on the island vs. cruise ships). You have successfully identified the overall trend and made relevant comparisons. However, the report lacks precision in some areas; for example, describing the total visitors as 'initiated from 1 million to 2 million' is slightly confusing. Additionally, the data points for the sub-categories are sometimes presented in a way that makes it difficult to follow the timeline. To improve, ensure that you clearly distinguish between the categories and use more precise language when describing the data trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps with the overall structure. However, the flow of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. Phrases like 'Moving towards the rest of the information' feel a bit forced. Furthermore, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to track which category is being discussed. To achieve a higher score, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother progression of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'dramatically increased' and 'upward trend'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'linear representation' (instead of 'line graph'), 'it was stabled' (instead of 'it remained stable'), and 'over of time period'. These errors occasionally make the text feel unnatural. To improve, focus on learning common collocations used in data description and ensure you are using the correct parts of speech when describing trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'number of tourists who visited to Caribbean island', 'people who was staying', and 'visitors who staying'. These errors in subject-verb agreement and relative clauses are noticeable. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms and prepositions.
