Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all three categories (cruise ship visitors, island visitors, and total visitors) and made relevant comparisons. However, the report could be improved by ensuring the data points are more precise. For example, you mention 'closing at the peak of 3 million' and 'falling round about to 1 million', but some figures are slightly imprecise or confusingly phrased. To reach a higher band, ensure that your data reporting is consistently accurate and that you clearly distinguish between the categories throughout the entire period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'While', and 'In terms of', which help the flow of information. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'In next three years a significant increased were recorded'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'substantial growth', 'fluctuating', and 'proportion'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'how many number of tourists', 'contributed the stable figure', and 'people remained on Island had hold'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on collocations and ensure that your word forms (e.g., 'increase' vs 'increased') are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('figures were remained same', 'a significant increased were recorded') and missing articles ('staying on Island'). While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb tenses and article usage, will help you achieve a higher score.
