Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, including the overall trend and specific data points for total visitors, cruise ship passengers, and island stayers. You successfully identified the key trends, such as the gradual rise in total visitors and the comparison between the two accommodation types. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview that synthesizes the data effectively. While you mention the main trends, the description of the data is somewhat mechanical, listing figures without fully highlighting the most significant comparisons or contrasts between the categories. To improve, ensure your overview clearly identifies the most striking differences or patterns at a glance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'In detail', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, and some transitions feel mechanical. For example, the phrase 'On the other hand.' is punctuated incorrectly with a period, which disrupts the flow. Additionally, the referencing of data points could be smoother to avoid a list-like feel. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring correct punctuation will help the progression of ideas feel more natural and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'gradually rose', 'soared', and 'climbed up'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and spelling errors, such as 'speedly' (should be 'rapidly'), 'ataying' (staying), and 'decrese' (decrease). The phrase 'reach to' is also grammatically incorrect in this context. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of common academic terms related to data description.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'staying on island' (missing an article: 'the island'), 'reach to 1.56 million' (incorrect verb usage), and punctuation errors like the period after 'On the other hand'. There is also a lack of variety in sentence structure, with many sentences following a similar pattern. To improve, focus on mastering article usage and verb patterns, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures to demonstrate greater control over grammar.
