Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, including the overall trends for total visitors, island stayers, and cruise ship passengers. You successfully identified the key data points and made relevant comparisons between the two categories. However, the report lacks precision in some areas; for instance, the description of the 2014 data is slightly confusing, and the summary of the final year could be more clearly linked to the overall trend. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed and that the overview clearly highlights the most significant differences in growth patterns between the two visitor types.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs detailing the data. While there is a clear progression of ideas, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'In 2010', 'In 2012', 'In 2013'). Some transitions between sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'followed by visitors staying on island signicantly climbed'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'which', 'this') is used more precisely would enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'increased gradually', 'surged', and 'spiked'. However, there are several spelling errors ('periode', 'eary', 'signicantly', 'stayng', 'privious', 'steadly', 'choos', 'comapred') and some awkward collocations ('prefer to visiting', 'total visitors was 1 million'). These errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not impede overall communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and ensure that your verb forms (e.g., 'prefer to stay' instead of 'prefer to staying') are grammatically accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use relative clauses and comparative structures, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('total visitors was', 'visitors staying on island... was') and preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and awkward spacing. While these errors are noticeable and occur frequently, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points of the graph. Focusing on basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
