Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given line graph demonstrates the number of visitors (in millions) visiting the Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017. Overall, the graph describes the record of three categories of tourists including the visitors staying on cruise ships, the visitors who were staying on the island, and the total visitors between the years 2010 and 2017. Initially in 2010, almost 0.25 million visitors preferred to stay on cruise ships. Moreover it fluctuates till 2013 between 0.25 and 0.5, then suddenly its figure increased to 1 million of visitors in 2014 and started continuously increasing during the 2 years and reached to 2 million of visitors at the end of 2017. In contrast, the number of tourists, who decided to stayed on the island, started from approximately 0.75 million and stay consistent till 2011. Then frequently, the line represented the number of tourists staying on island showed a continuous incline in it and reached to 1.5 million in 2013 and remained almost same till 2017. On the other hand, the total number of visitors who visited the island in 2010, started from 1 million and increased to 1.5 million till 2013. However, it increased continuously with the passage of time and reached to 3.5 million at the end.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the graph, including the trends for cruise ship visitors, island stayers, and the total figures. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the graph. To reach a higher band, ensure that your comparisons are more explicit. For example, instead of just listing the figures for each category separately, you could highlight how the cruise ship visitors eventually overtook the island stayers in 2017. Additionally, ensure that your data points are precise; for instance, stating 'almost 0.25 million' is good, but ensure all figures are accurately reflected from the graph to avoid minor inaccuracies.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a summary. You use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs could be improved. Some sentences feel slightly repetitive in structure, such as the repeated use of 'the number of tourists'. Using more varied referencing (e.g., 'the former', 'the latter', or 'this figure') would improve the cohesion. Paragraphing is present, but the body paragraphs could be better balanced to ensure a smoother progression of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'fluctuates', 'continuous incline', and 'remained almost same'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'stay consistent' (should be 'remained consistent') and 'showed a continuous incline in it' (the 'in it' is redundant). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms for 'increase' or 'stay' to avoid repetition. The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'decided to stayed' (should be 'decided to stay') and 'reached to 2 million' (should be 'reached 2 million'). Additionally, there are some issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions after verbs like 'reach' or 'increase' will significantly improve your accuracy.
