Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is significantly under-length at only 95 words. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly in the middle of a sentence. While the introduction attempts to outline the graph, the body paragraphs fail to provide a comprehensive summary or report the main features effectively. The data provided is inaccurate (e.g., mentioning 2018, which is outside the 2010–2017 timeframe). Because the task is not completed and the response is severely underdeveloped, it falls into the lower band range.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response lacks a clear logical progression due to its incomplete nature. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the abrupt ending prevents the development of a coherent structure. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes misused, such as the awkward transition 'During first year'. The lack of a concluding summary or a fully developed body paragraph makes the overall arrangement disjointed and difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'total number of visitors visiting Caribbean island' (redundant) and 'larger figure' (imprecise). The student struggles to use specific terminology related to data description, such as 'upward trend' or 'overtaken', which are used in a limited and somewhat inaccurate context. The range is insufficient to convey the information with precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with article usage ('visited Caribbean island' instead of 'the Caribbean island'), verb tense consistency, and sentence structure. The sentence 'In 2018, total number of people visited Caribbean island while 0.8 million who stayed on island' is grammatically fragmented and lacks a main verb. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax.
