Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the main features, but there are significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you mention 2018, which is outside the provided timeframe of 2010–2017. Furthermore, the data points cited (e.g., '1.3 million' for cruise ships in 2015) do not align with the visual information provided in the graph. While you identify the two categories (island stay and cruise ship), the lack of precision in reporting the figures and the inclusion of incorrect years prevent the response from fully addressing the task requirements. To improve, ensure you carefully cross-reference your written figures with the axes and legend of the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical flow is often disrupted by confusing transitions and unclear referencing. For example, the phrase 'meanwhile visitors staying island remained same' lacks a clear subject and connection to the previous clause. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as 'In addition' and 'In 2012'. The progression of ideas is hindered by the factual errors and the repetitive structure of the sentences, making the overall organization feel somewhat disjointed rather than fluid.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You frequently use the same phrases, such as 'visitors staying on island' and 'visitors staying on cruise ships'. There are also instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors, such as 'pleatued' (likely meaning 'plateaued') and 'Carribean'. While you attempt to use some descriptive language like 'surged dramatically', the overall range is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of synonyms for 'increase' or 'decrease' and ensure accurate spelling of key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with articles (e.g., 'on island' instead of 'on the island'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. For example, 'largest tourists came to Carribean island accounted 3.5 million' is grammatically incorrect and difficult to parse. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, such as the run-on sentence in the final paragraph. You rely heavily on simple sentence structures, and the high frequency of errors in basic grammar limits your score in this criterion.
