Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered both categories (cruise ship and island visitors) and made relevant comparisons, such as noting when the island visitors overtook the cruise ship visitors. The data points are generally accurate, and the report is well-focused on the key features of the graph. To reach a higher band, ensure that you provide more precise data points for all years mentioned, as some descriptions are slightly generalized. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph. You use some cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'after that', and 'however' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences could be smoother; for instance, the transition in the second paragraph regarding the cruise ship fluctuations is slightly repetitive and could benefit from more varied linking words. Paragraphing is present, but the structure could be improved by separating the overview more distinctly from the detailed data analysis to enhance readability.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'upward trend', 'remained unchanged', and 'declined'. There are some minor errors in word choice and form, such as '0.25 millions people' (should be '0.25 million people') and 'the both number of visitors' (should be 'the number of both types of visitors'). While you attempt to use some specific terminology, the range is somewhat limited. Using more precise synonyms for 'increased' or 'figure' would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the both number', 'the figure for island') and pluralization ('0.25 millions'). Additionally, there are some punctuation issues, such as the comma splice in 'it then remained unchanged until 2015, it then declined'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
