Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the graph by reporting some main features and figures, such as the total visitor numbers in 2010, 2011, and 2012. However, the overview is extremely weak, consisting merely of a fragment: 'Overall the comparison of visiting the island the past years.' Furthermore, there are significant inaccuracies in reporting the data, such as confusing millions and lakhs (e.g., '0.5 lakhs visitors staying on the island'), and the data points for several years are omitted or vaguely described, especially regarding the breakdown between cruise ship passengers and those staying on the island. Because the response lacks a fully developed overview and contains numerous inaccurate data representations, it falls into the Band 5 category for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The organization of the text is very fragmented, with almost every sentence presented as its own single-sentence paragraph. The introductory sentence is incomplete, and the transition phrases like 'Talking about 2015, 2016 and 2017' are overly conversational and lack cohesive quality. Logical progression is hindered by abrupt shifts between years without clear comparative structures. While basic cohesive devices such as 'however' and 'on the other hand' are attempted, referencing and paragraphing are poorly managed throughout the text. These structural and cohesive weaknesses align closely with Band 4 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms like 'visitors', 'island', and 'staying'. There is an inappropriate mixing of numerical terminology, specifically using the South Asian term 'lakhs' alongside millions, which is inappropriate for an international Academic task. Word choice and collocation errors are noticeable, such as 'vist the island' and 'gained more amount of visitors', which occasionally cause confusion for the reader. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for conveying basic numeric trends, placing it firmly at Band 4.5, rounded to 4.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The text demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or attempt complex forms that result in severe grammatical errors, missing verbs, and incomplete fragments, such as 'The graph showing the number of tourists visiting a caribbean island between 2010 to 2017' and 'In 2011 around 1.3 million people visit the island in which 0.5 lakhs visitors staying on the island'. Punctuation is frequently missing or misused, and capitalization is inconsistent. Grammatical errors are highly frequent and regularly distort the intended meaning, which corresponds directly to the Band 4 descriptors.
