Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The student attempts to cover the main features of the chart, including the overall upward trend and the breakdown between visitors staying on the island versus cruise ships. However, there are significant data inaccuracies, such as claiming the total jumped to '6 million' in 2013 (when the maximum on the graph is 3.5 million). Additionally, the response falls well below the required 150-word minimum, containing only 128 words. This results in an under-developed overview and incomplete coverage of the data. Band score: 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is divided into three brief paragraphs, attempting an introduction, overview, and body details. However, logical progression is weak and cohesion is often faulty or mechanical, using basic linkers like 'Furthermore' and 'It is quite evident'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure feels disjointed due to the abrupt sentences and under-length nature of the response. Band score: 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'recetly', 'tuen', and 'butt'. While the student attempts some topic-related vocabulary like 'visitors', 'cruise ship', and 'trend', the range is limited and inadequate for a higher band. Collocations are occasionally unnatural. Band score: 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response features a very limited range of sentence structures, with frequent grammatical errors, incorrect verb tenses, and punctuation issues (e.g., missing spaces after commas, 'the numbers of visitors ... doesn't grow', 'won't stop untill 2016'). Complex structures are attempted but are generally faulty and impede clear communication at times. Band score: 4.5.
