Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The student has attempted to summarize the main trends in the line graph, identifying the overall rise in cruise ship visitors and providing some initial figures. However, the response falls significantly short of the 150-word minimum, containing only 115 words. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence at the end ("while, the line visitores who stay on island, were"). Because the content is truncated and fails to fully report all categories or make comprehensive comparisons as instructed, Task Achievement is severely limited by length and completeness, warranting a Band 4.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The student attempts an overall introduction and paragraphing structure, but the abrupt cutoff prevents full evaluation of logical progression and paragraph development. While basic cohesive links such as 'Overall', 'while', and 'Moreover' are utilized, referencing is occasionally awkward ('these fegures'). The organization shows some intent with a clear overview section, but the lack of completion heavily disrupts the coherence and overall flow of the text. This aligns with the descriptors for Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for basic description, incorporating terms such as 'illustrates', 'visitors', 'cruise ships', and 'gradually'. However, there are numerous spelling errors ('touriste', 'fegures', 'upword', 'reachd', 'visitores') and repetitive phrasing ('figure of', 'touristes'). The range is quite limited, and word choice is sometimes imprecise or unidiomatic ('the number of visitors who stayed on island was reduced'). These limitations place this criterion firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control is weak. There are frequent grammatical and mechanical errors, such as missing articles ('the figure of tourist', 'on island'), incorrect prepositions, and structural awkwardness ('In 2010, this figure was 0.25, it moves up at 0.5 in 2011'). Furthermore, the response ends abruptly in the middle of a sentence, demonstrating a lack of completion in grammatical execution. These frequent errors and the incomplete nature of the writing lead to a Band 4.5.
