The graph below shows the number of tourists visiting a particular Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The line chart illustrates the number of tourists visiting a specific Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017.
Overall, the number of total visitors to caribbean island was the highest and it was increasing further over time, while the visitors staying on the island were fluctuating over the years. Initially, visitors staying on cruise ships was the lowest but it increased after a few years.
In 2010, the total number if tourists was 1 million, which increased to 2 million in 2013, after that it rose to 3.5 million in 2017, which was the highest ever total. The visitors staying on the island was almost 0.75 million during the start, which increased to 1.5 million in 2015, but the very next year it decreased to nearly 1.3 million.
The visitors staying on cruise ships was 0.25 million in 2010, which was the lowest compared with the total and visitors staying on the island. In addition, it increased to 0.5 million next year but decreased to 0.5 million in 2012. After that, it boosted to 2 million visitors in 2017, which was more than visitors staying on the island.
