The graph below shows the number of tourists visiting a particular Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

This line graph illustrates number of tourists visiting to a specific Caribbean island from 2010 to 2020. Overall, the total number of tourists increased considerably during the period while the number of visitors staying on the island rose steadily before remaining stable. The figure for cruise ship tourists grew sharply and eventually became the largest group and the visitors stayed on cruise ships in 2010 starting at rising by about 0.3million, while its fluctuating rate went up and down in 2011 and 2012. But it started increasing in 2013 because people like to travel in different places and its comprised of 1 million in 2014. Although the rate of visitors exceeds overtime and developmental factors are escalated at specific interval of time. In 2015 the effecting the rate of tourists constituted of 1.3 million and substantial growth in number of tourist records about 2 million individuals in a Caribbean island. On the other hand, visitors staying in island showed moderate change in working capacity, meanwhile, it started to visit 1 million individuals in 2014 and its oscillation rate explored with plenty of time. Thus in 2017, visitors rose up to 2 million for better economic growth in various parts of the island. On contrast, Total rate of both visitors, cruise ships and island indicate its augmentation rate made up of 3.5 million including population. In conclusion, albeit visitors play an important role in enhancing environment and strength of community. A balanced approach is needed, for smooth working of transportation for visitors and cruise ships exhibit highest number of visitors juxtaposed. Its developmental aspects multiply because of people’s interest and better facilities that gravitate more citizens. The number of visitors staying on the island increased to approximately 1.5 million by 2013 and then remained stable until 2017. In contrast, the number of cruise-ship visitors rose sharply after 2013, reaching 2 million in 2017.
