Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting an overview and reporting key data points for the categories shown in the graph. The overview successfully highlights the dramatic increase in total tourists. However, some parts of the response are under-developed or lack precision. For instance, stating there were 'approximately 1 million explorers' in 2010 overlooks that the total was precisely 1 million, and descriptions of trends like visitors staying on the island contain minor inaccuracies or lack clarity regarding specific years. To move to a higher band, all main features and comparisons should be fully developed and supported with accurate data throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'To begin with', and 'Furthermore' are used to structure the text, though some referencing and mechanical usage are a bit clumsy, such as 'Along the way' or 'in the end of the year'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct points. To achieve a higher level of coherence and cohesion, referencing and transitional phrases would need to flow more naturally without appearing forced or repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'dramatic increase', 'fluctuations', and 'remarkably change'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, including 'visitors staying on island' (missing an article), 'slighly went', and 'rose a peak'. Spelling errors like 'doted' and 'visitiors' also appear. While these inaccuracies do not impede overall communication, they prevent the piece from reaching a higher lexical band. Incorporating a wider range of precise vocabulary with correct word forms and collocations will significantly strengthen this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures. There are several grammar and punctuation errors present, such as unnecessary commas ('visitors staying on cruise ships, started with...'), incorrect prepositions ('in the end of the year' instead of 'at the end of the year'), and subject-verb agreement issues. Despite these errors, the meaning remains mostly clear and they rarely impede communication. To improve, you should focus on tightening punctuation around modifiers, ensuring correct prepositions in temporal expressions, and eliminating basic structural slips.
