Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting an overview and reporting the main features, such as the overall growth and the specific trends for visitors staying on the island versus those on cruise ships. However, some areas are under-developed or inadequately supported. For instance, the overview contains vague phrasing ('while the number of visitors staying on the island mostly same of 2013') and some data points are inaccurate or poorly contextualised, such as stating that the total figure 'was same lable grew of 2.7 million in 2010'. Key data is selected from the visual, but the lack of precise development and occasional confusion in reporting trends keep this part of the assessment at the current level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response achieves a coherent overall arrangement with a logical division into paragraphs, starting with an introduction and overview, followed by body paragraphs detailing the data. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Referencing and linking devices are occasionally misused or absent, resulting in disjointed sentences. For example, expressions like 'While the number of visitors staying on the island mostly same...' and abrupt sentence boundaries ('In 2010, The total number of visitors was 1 million. This figure rose significantly...') disrupt the flow. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal logical progression within the body paragraphs requires more refined transitional markers to achieve a higher standard.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'illustrates', 'considerably', 'significantly', and 'surged'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation throughout the text. Examples include 'mostly same of 2013', 'very first' instead of 'very fast', 'increase notebly arround', and 'same lable grew'. Spelling and morphological slips—such as 'notebly' and 'arround'—also occur. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the vocabulary score, as the writer's attempts at less common lexical items often lack precision and natural collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing displays a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage. Issues include missing verbs ('While the number of visitors staying on the island mostly same'), incorrect prepositions or phrasing ('stayingon the island', 'increase only 0.3 million'), and faulty punctuation (such as missing spaces after periods and fragmented sentences like 'Which is higher than the number of people staying on the island.'). Although the meaning can generally be understood, these grammatical inaccuracies are common enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
