Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response makes an attempt to summarise the graph by presenting some key features, such as the overall upward trend in total visitors and the growth in cruise ship travel. However, the interpretation of the data contains inaccuracies; for example, the text claims that visitors staying on the island became a minimum in 2017, whereas the chart shows them rising back to 1.5 million. Furthermore, the details lack sufficient extension, and the overview is basic and imprecise, presenting limited information about the overall trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The text is organised into paragraphs, beginning with an introductory overview and following with supporting body paragraphs. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the logical links between sentences are weak or mechanical, relying on repetitive transitions like 'In detail' and 'Despite this'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks the smooth flow expected at higher bands, making the structure feel somewhat disjointed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'od' instead of 'of', 'prefere', 'decresing', 'dengrously', 'segnificantly', and 'increaing'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but noticeable errors in form and spelling cause some difficulty for the reader and impede clear communication throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing shows a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'visitors staying on cruise ships is increasing' instead of 'are', 'it start' instead of 'started', and missing articles before nouns. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader.
