Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word length requirement of 150 words, containing only 46 words. Consequently, the description of the visual data is extremely minimal. While the writer attempts to provide an overview by mentioning the growing trend of cruise ship visitors and the rising total number of visitors, key features and detailed comparisons are largely absent due to the severely truncated length. This puts the task achievement at a very low level, as the response is underdeveloped and only touches upon a fraction of the required data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response is structured into two brief paragraphs, attempting an introductory sentence and an overall summary. There is a basic attempt to sequence ideas logically using transition words like 'Overall'. However, the lack of body paragraphs and the severe brevity prevent any meaningful overall progression or effective use of cohesive devices. Referencing between ideas is simple and mechanical, resulting in a text that lacks the development needed for higher bands.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, such as 'chart diagram', 'tourists', and 'visitors'. There are notable lexical and spelling errors throughout the short text, including 'caribbean isliand' instead of 'Caribbean island', 'comper' instead of 'compared', and the awkward phrase 'millions number of tourists'. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for conveying very basic concepts, but frequent word-choice and spelling errors reflect a restricted lexical repertoire.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting merely of two simple-to-compound sentences. There are noticeable grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues in 'the visitors... are growing' combined with singular/plural inconsistencies like 'each years' instead of 'each year' or 'every year'. Punctuation and capitalization errors also appear, such as the unnecessary capitalization in 'Overall, The'. Complex structures are absent, and the frequent basic errors restrict the grammatical score.
