Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover the main components of the graph and provide an overview that identifies the overall rise in total visitors, while also noting changes in the two accommodation groups. Several key figures are accurate, including the total reaching 3.5 million in 2017 and cruise-ship visitors reaching 2 million. However, some details are misreported: island visitors were about 0.75 million in 2010, not 0.6 million, and they remained at roughly 1.5 million from 2013 to 2015 rather than declining after 2013. The overview also describes both groups as fluctuating, although island visitors were comparatively stable after 2012. This covers the task well overall, but greater precision and a clearer distinction between the series would strengthen it further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of the island and cruise-ship figures, followed by the total. This makes the main progression easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “After” help signal relationships between points. However, the sequence within the island paragraph is confusing: “It begin around 0.6 million” is followed by a rise to 2013, then a decline, and then a return to the peak, without clearly distinguishing the stages. Some transitions are also mechanically attached to sentence fragments, as in “After decreased nearly 0.3 in 2012.” Use complete sentences and organise each series in a consistent chronological sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a relevant range of trend vocabulary, including “upward trend,” “gradually,” “significantly rose,” and “peak,” so the reader can generally understand the changes being described. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the account less clear. Examples include “flactuation,” “delicned,” “ro sr” (intended as “rose”), and “highest attitude,” which is not a natural way to describe a maximum. “Numbers of tourist” and repeated use of “visitors” also show limited control of precise phrasing. Aim for accurate, conventional expressions such as “fluctuated slightly,” “declined,” and “reached a peak,” and check spelling and plural forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “While” and a time clause beginning “after.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “the number of tourist showed” has a number-agreement problem, while “It begin around” and “visitors staying on cruise is” use incorrect verb forms. Several clauses are joined with commas rather than being formed as complete sentences, such as “In 2010, the number … had stable pattern. It begin…” and “After decreased nearly 0.3 in 2012.” Articles and sentence punctuation also need attention. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs.
