Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the overall rise in total visitors and discuss both accommodation groups, so the response is relevant to the graph. However, the main trends are not reported reliably: the cruise-ship figure reaches about 2 million in 2017, not 1.5 million, and visitors staying on the island generally rise from 0.75 million to around 1.5 million, rather than declining throughout the intervening years. The claim that cruise visitors outnumbered island visitors until mid-2015 also reverses the data: island visitors were higher in most years before 2016. The overview is unclear, and several comparisons are either inaccurate or insufficiently supported. Select the clearest overall patterns, then check each comparison against the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some organisation: the response moves from a general description to comments on the two visitor groups and then attempts a comparison. However, the progression is difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or placed together without clear links. For example, the opening combines the total peak with accommodation figures, while the final paragraph repeats figures from the earlier discussion. Connectors such as “Also,” “In comparison,” and “after that” are used, but they do not always show the relationship accurately, and references such as “there” and “they” can be unclear. Use a clearer overview paragraph followed by one paragraph for each series, and make each sentence develop one comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt some task-related vocabulary, including “peak,” “decline,” “proportion,” and “preference,” but the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural. “People who were living on ships” is not a precise way to describe tourists staying on cruise ships, while “crowd was least” does not naturally express the lowest visitor total. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “almot,” “toursits,” and “there” where “their” is intended. These issues sometimes make the intended meaning harder to understand. Build a small set of accurate graph-description phrases and check spelling and collocations before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts longer sentences and clauses, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to interpret. For example, “There are million of visitors who visited Caribbean island back in 2010 to 2017” has problems with articles, number agreement, and tense, while “when the year 2017 started propotion of people became reach” is not grammatically complete. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, particularly where several ideas run together. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them using clauses such as “while” or “whereas.” Check articles, plural forms, and verb agreement, and use past tense consistently for the years shown.
