Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The graph compared the number of tourists visited the Carribean island over a period of 17 years, from 2010 to 2017.

Overall, it is clear that visitors staying on the island increased over a given period, while visitors staying on ships experienced a decline. In addition, island had the largest number of visitors where ships had the lowest number.

Looking at the details, number of tourists on cruise started at approximately 1 milion in 2010, and then increased grdually to approximately 2 million by 2015. After 2015, it followed the inverse order, and fell down in 2017.

On the other hand, number of visitors staying on islands observed upward trends. It figures started the trend at two lacs of visitors in 2010, and then rapidly increased to two million by 2017.

Overall, Carribbean island observed the largest number of visitors in year 2017. The number of visitors observed are approximately thirty five lac.

By the end of period, island recorded the highes number iof visitors while ships had the lowest number of visitors.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the general subject and include an overview, but the main trends are substantially misreported, which limits how fully the task is addressed. The chart shows cruise-ship visitors rising overall from about 0.25 million to 2 million, not declining after 2015; island-staying visitors rise from about 0.75 million to 1.5 million, rather than reaching two million. The claim that cruise visitors began at one million is also inaccurate. Your overview says ship visitors declined and had the lowest number, although their total increased and they were the larger group in 2017. Focus on accurate comparisons and select a few key figures to support the overview.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has separate paragraphs and uses basic signposting such as “Overall,” “Looking at the details,” and “On the other hand,” so the reader can recognise an attempt to organise the report. However, progression is weakened by contradictory and repeated conclusions: the opening overview says ships declined, while the final paragraph again claims ships had the lowest number. The two concluding statements also repeat the same comparison rather than adding a new feature. Some links do not clearly connect the information, and the account moves between trends without a consistent chronological comparison. Organise the response into a concise overview followed by paragraphs that compare the two visitor groups across the period.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “visitors,” “increased,” “decline,” and “upward trends,” which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a graph. “Inverse order” does not clearly express a trend, and “observed upward trends” is an awkward collocation. The use of “two lacs” and “thirty five lac” is not appropriate for this IELTS chart description, where figures should be expressed consistently in millions. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Carribean,” “grdually,” and “highes,” which reduce precision. Use standard graph-reporting vocabulary and check spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer clauses, including a contrast introduced by “while” and a time sequence beginning “After 2015.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “the number of tourists visited” needs a relative construction such as “the number of tourists who visited,” while “It figures started” has an incorrect pronoun and sentence structure. Articles and agreement are also inconsistent in “island had” and “The number of visitors observed are.” Several sentences rely on similar basic patterns, and the longer constructions are not consistently controlled. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence formation before adding more complex structures.
