Student answer (Band 4.5)

The gragh illustrates that amount of tourists visiting a specific Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017. This gragh demonstrates that million of tourists come to Caribbean island includes, tourists who stay on cruise ship, individuals who stick around island. It also indicates that overall tourists are gradually rise over the years like we can see in gragh since 2010 to 2015 in those years more and mroe peoples are visting island however, It seems that sudden drop of individual in 2016. In addition, in 2017 visitors are increasingly come at Isalnd. Moreover, visitors who stays on island are rise in 2010 but in 2011 they decreased and from 2012 to 2015 their visiting on ship remained same but in 2016 individuals are less coming to cruise ships and in 2017 its intensity increase again. Furthermore, individuals who are staying on cruise ships are increased in 2011 but their intensity become drop at 2012 and but they rise again from 2013 to 2017. Therefore, overall individuals are more coming to island, followed by visitors who staying on cruise ship then by visitirs staying on island.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the chart’s subject and mention the overall rise in tourist numbers, which is relevant. However, the account only partially reports the main features, and several descriptions confuse the two visitor groups. For example, the sentence beginning “visitors who stays on island” then says their numbers “remained same” from 2012 to 2015, but this pattern belongs to visitors staying on the island only in part; cruise-ship visitors rose over those years. The claim that the total shows a “sudden drop” in 2016 is also inaccurate: the total remained stable at about 2.75 million, while island-staying visitors fell slightly. Give a clear overview of the total’s rise and the cruise-ship group’s strong growth, then support it with accurate comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response includes several relevant points and uses linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore.” However, ideas are not arranged into a clear progression: the account moves between the total, island visitors, and cruise-ship visitors without separating them into a focused overview and supporting details. Some transitions also connect ideas that do not follow logically, and the final sentence gives a confusing ranking of the groups. Repeated use of “individuals” and “visitors” makes the relationships harder to track. Organise the response into an introduction, a concise overview, and paragraphs comparing the two visitor categories, using clear references such as “the total” and “those staying on the island.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “overall,” “visitors,” “cruise ships,” and “remained,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the intended trend unclear. For instance, “their intensity increase” is not a natural way to describe visitor numbers, and “individuals are more coming to island” is difficult to interpret. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “gragh,” “mroe,” “visting,” “Isalnd,” and “visitirs.” Use precise terms for quantities and movement, such as “the number of visitors,” “rose,” “fell slightly,” and “levelled off,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences and use clauses linked by “however,” “since,” and “but,” showing some effort to vary sentence structure. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to follow. Examples include “overall tourists are gradually rise,” “visitors who stays,” and “their visiting on ship remained same.” The opening also has an incomplete construction: “This gragh demonstrates that million of tourists come to Caribbean island includes…” Practise accurate patterns such as “the number of tourists rose,” “visitors who stayed,” and “the figure remained the same.” Use shorter sentences when needed, and punctuate contrast clauses clearly.
