Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the chart’s subject and report several important features, including the overall rise from about 1 million visitors in 2010 to 3.5 million in 2017, and the growth in cruise-ship visitors to 2 million. You also note that island stays were more popular initially and that their figure later fell. However, the account is uneven: the island-stay total actually rose to about 1.5 million by 2013, remained there through 2015, dipped in 2016, and recovered in 2017; this pattern is only partly explained. The claim that interest increased “day by day” is too general, since the total was unchanged from 2015 to 2016. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would make the main trends easier to understand.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable structure, with an introduction, discussion of visitor choices, and a concluding summary. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore,” “if we compare,” and “Overall” help signal movement between points. However, progression is not consistently clear: the first paragraph combines the two accommodation trends, while the second makes a broad statement about overall growth without giving a specific comparison. The final paragraph repeats the total’s rise and the chart’s purpose rather than adding a distinct concluding insight. Some references, such as “the numbers” and “the results,” are vague, and transitions can feel mechanical. Grouping the total trend separately from the two visitor categories, then comparing their key changes, would create a clearer sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “visitors,” “total,” “peak figure,” “comparison,” and “period of time,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “interest changes” for changes in visitor numbers and “temporary residence” for accommodation. Repetition of “numbers,” “visitors,” and “graph” also limits precision. Spelling errors—including “intrested,” “droped,” “to-word,” and “thrity”—are noticeable and can distract the reader. Aim for accurate chart language and collocations, for example “the number of cruise-ship visitors rose” and “visitors staying on the island.” This would make comparisons more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a comparison beginning “if we compare…” and a concluding sentence with “from…to…”. Meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are evident. For example, “The graph illustrate” needs subject–verb agreement, while “the numbers was higher” has a plural subject with a singular verb. “Those, who choosed to stayed” contains faulty relative-clause and verb forms, and “The total visitors in 2017 is” shifts incorrectly in tense and agreement. Some sentences also have awkward or incomplete structures, such as “two types of tourists data shown.” Review basic sentence patterns and maintain consistent past tense when describing the 2010–2017 data; greater accuracy would make your range more effective.
