Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You identify the main overall pattern: total visitor numbers rise, cruise-ship visitors grow strongly, and island-staying visitors level off after increasing. The overview also notes the total’s pause in 2016, and the final figures for 2017 are accurately reported. These points address the task and are supported with relevant data. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: in 2010 the total is described as increasing to one million, although that is the starting figure; the total reaches 1.5 million in 2012. You also say all categories increased from 2012 to 2015, but island visitors remain at 1.5 million from 2013 to 2015. Correcting these comparisons and stating the key trends more precisely would strengthen an otherwise clear summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and a detailed paragraph, and it generally moves from broad trends to figures over time. The sequence from 2010–2012 to 2012–2015 and then 2015–2017 helps the reader follow the timeline. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover” and “At the end.” However, some transitions are mechanical or confusing, particularly “In the addition” and “moving forward in 2011 that number increase or staying same in each category.” The long final paragraph combines several periods and comparisons, making some relationships harder to track. Use clearer time-based topic sentences and connect each figure directly to the trend it illustrates.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “overall,” “declined,” “remain same” and “jump,” and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons. However, the range and control are limited, with repeated use of “visitors,” “increase” and “staying,” and several inaccurate or unnatural expressions, such as “number at time in year,” “increase massively” and “its starting point.” Spelling errors are also noticeable, including “garph,” “vistors,” “curise” and “caribbean,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the report. Aim for more precise trend language and check spelling carefully. For example, distinguish between a figure that “rose,” “remained stable” or “fell,” rather than relying on “increase” throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which” and time phrases such as “between 2015 and 2017.” This gives the report some structural variety. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in tense, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to read. Examples include “garph show,” “visitors … have increasing trend,” and “visitors staying on island have increase significantly.” The sentence beginning “In 2010 total visitors have increase” also uses an incorrect verb form and does not clearly express the change. Practise consistent past-tense reporting (“rose,” “remained”) and build shorter, complete sentences before combining ideas. Check subject–verb agreement and article use during editing.
