Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the overall rise in total visitors and note that cruise-ship visitors eventually overtake those staying on the island, which are relevant main features. However, several key details are misreported, limiting the accuracy and coverage of the summary. Cruise-ship visitors began at about 0.25 million, not one million, and rose to two million by 2017; they did not fall and recover to 1.5 million. Visitors staying on the island generally increased from about 0.75 million to 1.5 million, rather than falling below 0.5 million and reaching two million. The total reached about 2.75 million in 2015 and 2016, not 2.5 million in 2015. Check each series against the graph and select a few accurate comparisons to support the overview.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs discussing the two visitor categories and the total. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Regarding” help signal shifts. However, the final body paragraph moves from island visitors to total visitors without a clear transition, and some sequencing is difficult to follow, particularly “after slight decrease” and “after being conctand for two years.” Punctuation around linking words is also inconsistent, as in “then the figure peaked.” To strengthen progression, keep each paragraph focused on one series and use clear time markers such as “initially,” “thereafter,” and “by the end of the period.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “peaked,” “upward trend,” “considerable increase,” and “visitors staying on cruise ships.” This shows an attempt to describe changes rather than simply list figures. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the trend unclear: “the figure of tourists,” “faced considerable increase,” and “remain unchanged” do not fit naturally in their contexts. Spelling errors such as “visitores,” “styaing,” “conctand,” and “unchanched” are noticeable and reduce clarity. Aim for precise, conventional graph language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe a figure as “rose to” a value and say it “remained stable” when it did not change.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast in the overview and time clauses such as “after being … for two years.” However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences hard to interpret. Examples include “it can be seen the total number … was increased,” “initially was estimated,” and “the number increased substantially two million,” where clause structure, verb form, or required prepositions are missing or incorrect. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “the 2017” and the lowercase “then” after a full stop. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add clauses with “while,” “before,” or “by the time” and check that each verb has a clear subject and correct form.
