Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the chart’s subject and report some relevant figures for visitors staying on the island and on cruise ships. However, the response only partially covers the task: the total series is not described, and the final phrase, “morover total numbewr,” leaves that important information unfinished. There is also no clear overview of the main pattern, such as the overall rise in total visitors or the cruise-ship figure overtaking island stays by 2017. Some details are inaccurate: island stays were about 1.25 million in 2012, not 1.2, and the cruise-ship series did not follow the same pattern throughout. The response is also three words below the required minimum. Include a concise overview and compare all three series.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence, moving from visitors staying on the island to those on cruise ships, and time markers such as “in 2010,” “then,” and “after that” help the reader follow the chronology. However, the progression is incomplete because the total series is introduced only in the unfinished final phrase. The two main sections are not clearly separated into paragraphs, and repeated use of “then” and “it” makes the links mechanical and sometimes unclear. For example, “it followed a irregular fluctuation” does not make clear which figures are being discussed. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and detail paragraphs, and use precise references to each visitor group.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “increased sharply,” “slight increase,” “no change,” and “millions,” which helps convey basic trends. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, including “visting,” “miilion,” “vistors,” and “numbewr.” Phrases such as “followed a same pattern” and “irregular fluctuation” are not natural or precise descriptions of the data. Use accurate terms for movement and comparison, and avoid repeating “it” when naming the series would be clearer. Proofreading spelling and choosing standard collocations would make the report easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences linked with time expressions, for example, “whereas, it increased sharply in 2012.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. Examples include “it data is calibrated,” “0.7 million visitors was stay,” and “it followed a irregular fluctuation”; these show problems with sentence construction, verb forms, and articles. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, with the response beginning in lowercase and several clauses joined without clear sentence boundaries. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build sentences around clear subjects, such as “The number of island visitors remained stable.”
