Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the chart’s subject and mention all three series, but the main figures are repeatedly misreported, so the summary does not accurately convey the data. For example, cruise-ship visitors rose from about 0.25 million in 2010 to 2 million in 2017, not from 1 to 3.5 million; 3.5 million is the total in 2017. The total began at 1 million in 2010, not 0.5 million in 2011, and reached 3.5 million. The island-stay figure was about 1.25 million in 2012, then mostly stable around 1.5 million. Your overview is unclear and adds an unsupported recommendation about government improvements. The response is also 10 words below the 150-word minimum. Include a clear overview and select accurate key comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to separate the information into paragraphs, and the response moves from the two visitor categories to the total and then an overall comment. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several sentences are incomplete or loosely connected, such as “The visitors staying on island in 2012 which the value of visitior was 1 million.” The opening paragraph repeats the task rather than introducing a clear summary, while the final paragraph shifts to advice about the government, which does not belong in a chart report. Linking words such as “and” and “but” are used without making the relationships clear. Organise the response around an overview followed by grouped, accurate comparisons, and use complete sentences with clear references.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “total number,” “increase,” and “reached,” showing an attempt to describe trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear: “less significant reached,” “covered up,” and “have a craze to see” do not naturally describe changes in visitor numbers. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “caribbean,” “curise,” “visitior,” “chnage,” and “govenment.” These errors reduce precision, particularly when the figures themselves are being described. Build a small set of accurate trend expressions—such as “rose steadily,” “remained stable,” and “declined slightly”—and check spelling and word forms before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to use both simple statements and longer clauses, but control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and errors often make relationships between ideas hard to understand. For example, “The visitors who can staying on cruise ships which was 1 million in 2010” combines an incorrect verb form with an unclear clause structure. In “The total visitor are more significant increase,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the sentence lacks a grammatical structure for describing the rise. Articles, tense, and punctuation also need attention; for instance, “In 2016 the visitor are less decreased” is not a clear past-tense sentence. Practise writing short, complete comparisons first, then combine them using accurate clauses and consistent past-tense verbs.
