Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the overall rise in total visitors and distinguish between cruise-ship and island stays, which addresses the main features of the graph. However, the overview is not fully accurate: island visitors were more numerous than cruise-ship visitors in most years, with cruise visitors overtaking them only in 2017, so “Majority of tourist prefered to stay on cruise ship” misrepresents the comparison. There is also a significant data error in saying about 0.75 million stayed on cruise ships in 2010; the chart shows about 0.25 million. Your account of the island figures is broadly relevant but omits the early rise from 2011 to 2013. Select the key trends more accurately and support them with clearer comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the total and the two accommodation categories. This makes the information easy to follow, and time markers such as “in 2010,” “then,” and “in 2017” help establish sequence. The progression is generally logical, though the cruise-ship figures are placed in the paragraph about the total, which makes the category-by-category organisation less consistent. Some links are also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “then” and “again.” To strengthen the flow, group each series’ changes together and use a wider range of precise links to show contrast and continuation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “total number,” “significant growth,” “decline,” and “constant,” so the reader can understand the main trends. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general wording and several inaccurate or awkward choices. “Boost” is not a natural description of a figure rising, while “prefered” and “counsiderably” contain spelling errors. Phrases such as “as compare to” and “get increase” are also not idiomatic. Aim for accurate trend language and natural collocations, such as “rose,” “remained stable,” and “compared with.” This would make the report more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response is usually understandable. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “The total number of tourists constantly increase” needs a past-tense verb, and “it remain constant” should agree with its subject and use the past tense. The sentence beginning “starting from approximately1 millions visitors” also has problems with spacing, number form, and article use. Several clauses joined with “then” or “and” are not controlled consistently. Practise writing accurate past-tense comparisons first, then add complex clauses while checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation.
