The graph represents the numers of tourists abd visitors often visiting a particular island named Caribbean island between 2010 to 2017. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two visitor groups and report several relevant figures, including cruise-ship visitors rising from 0.25 million to 2 million and island visitors remaining at 0.75 million between 2010 and 2011. However, the response only partly covers the graph: it gives no account of the total series, an important feature, and the final sentence about island visitors is unfinished. The overview says both groups increased, but this misses the contrast that cruise-ship numbers rose strongly while island-staying numbers fluctuated around 1.5 million after 2013. Some details are also unclear, such as “waved a bit.” To improve, complete the comparison through 2017 and summarise the main overall trends accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction and overview are followed by separate paragraphs for cruise-ship and island visitors. Phrases such as “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the two categories, and the years generally appear in chronological order. However, progression is weakened by the unfinished final sentence, which leaves the second category without a complete account. Some linking is mechanical, with repeated “Then” and “After that,” while references such as “it” in “It also got an increment” are not always immediately clear. Organise the body into complete comparisons, use a wider range of precise links, and ensure each paragraph reaches a clear endpoint.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “visitors,” “cruise ships,” “steady,” and “increased,” so the main subject is generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common wording, such as “overall perspective” and “initial report,” but these are not natural choices for describing a graph. Several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “numers,” “abd,” “collosal,” “beated,” and “reched.” Phrases such as “in a colossal number” and “got an increment” are also awkward or imprecise. Aim for accurate, conventional trend language and check spelling; for example, use “rose substantially,” “remained stable,” and “reached” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the reader can usually follow the intended comparisons. However, errors are frequent, and some sentence patterns are faulty or incomplete. For example, “both visitors … have been increased” uses an incorrect verb construction, while “It stood steady till 2011 but yet were not…” has problems with agreement and sentence structure. The final clause, “in the final year it went till,” is incomplete and prevents the meaning from being finished. There are also awkward tense and article patterns, as in “visitors which stayed.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete clauses, such as “The figure rose to…” and “It then remained stable until…”.
