Student answer (Band 5.5)

The Line graph illustrate, the number of tourists who visited caribbean island for the past 7 years (2010 from 2017).

Overall, this graph has three section in which is it shows the growth or downfall in a particalur part like, Visitors staying on cruise shipps or visitors staying on island and the total number of visitors.

Firstly, the visitors staying on cruise ship in 2010 has increased by 2011 by 0.5 visitors and then in 2012 it came back the same level as 2010. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover all three series and report several accurate movements, including the cruise-ship figure reaching 2 million in 2017, the island-stay figure remaining level from 2013 to 2015, and the total staying unchanged from 2015 to 2016 before rising to 3.5 million. However, the overview is vague: saying the graph shows “growth or downfall” does not clearly identify the main pattern that the total rose overall and cruise-ship visitors increased particularly strongly. There is also a factual error in the opening, which describes 2010–2017 as “the past 7 years” and writes “2010 from 2017.” The account gives many year-by-year details but does not consistently select and summarise the most important comparisons, so the task is only partly developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about cruise-ship visitors, island visitors, and the total. Time markers such as “from 2011 to 2013,” “afterwards,” and “then” help the reader follow the chronology. However, the overview does not establish a clear organising summary, and the second body paragraph combines two series in a long sequence, making the progression harder to follow. Some linking is mechanical or unclear: “More over” introduces another detail without a clear relationship, while “in 2016 to 2017” is awkwardly connected to the preceding clause. Separate, focused paragraphs for each category and clearer comparisons would make the information easier to navigate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “constant,” “increased,” “decreased,” and “reached,” and the reader can generally identify the trends you mean. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “the staying on cruise ship is being growing” is not a natural way to describe a trend, and “three section” does not accurately describe the three data series. Spelling errors such as “particalur,” “shipps,” “contants,” and “significante” also reduce precision. Aim to use standard trend language consistently, such as “rose steadily,” “remained stable,” and “the number of visitors,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses linked with “whereas” and “and then,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic sentence formation and agreement: “The Line graph illustrate” needs a plural subject or singular verb, and “this graph has three section” has a number-agreement error. Verb forms are also frequently faulty, as in “is being growing,” “it was gose up,” and “it stay still.” Articles and prepositions are sometimes missing or incorrectly used, for example “visited caribbean island” and “in 2016 to 2017.” These errors make some sentences difficult to read, even though the intended trends are often recoverable. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and shorter sentence patterns before adding complex clauses.
