Student answer (Band 5.0)
The line chart illustrates the information about the number of tourists visiting a particulary Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017.
In 2010, the number of tourists visited were about 1 million. In addition to this visitors also stayed on island as well as cruise ship during there trip. In 2011, the individuals about half million stayed on cruise and rest of individual stayed on island. In 2012, the individuals increased about 1.5 million who were stayed on island.
In 2013, people who stayed on cruise again increased about half million. In 2014, the individuals who stayed on cruise increased about 1 million. Whereas the overall population, increased about 2.5 million. This shows the individual who visited this island likes most to visit this island again in upcoming years. In the 2016, the number of people increased over year and increasing with constant rate.
In conclusion, individuals and their freind circle like to visit the island to spent time with their families. This also reduce their stress and burden after a long break.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the chart’s subject and include some relevant figures, such as the total of about 1 million in 2010 and 2.5 million in 2014, as well as growth in cruise-ship visitors. However, the response reports only a small selection of the data and does not provide a clear overview of the main trends across the period. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: for example, the island-staying figure in 2012 was about 1.25 million, while the total was 1.5 million; the statement that numbers rose at a “constant rate” in 2016 is not supported, since the total remained around 2.75 million. The claims about repeat visits, families and stress are not shown by the graph. Focus on describing the series and their comparisons rather than speculating about tourists’ motives.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has separate paragraphs and uses time markers such as “In 2010,” “In 2012” and “In 2014,” which gives the reader some chronological guidance. However, the information does not develop in a clear overall progression: figures are mentioned selectively, and the final paragraph shifts from chart reporting to unsupported comments about families and stress. Linking phrases such as “In addition to this” and “Whereas” do not always show a clear relationship between the ideas that follow them. The conclusion also repeats general opinion rather than summarising the chart’s main features. Organise the report around an overview followed by comparisons of the total and the two visitor categories, using links that accurately express contrast or change.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “line chart,” “tourists,” “cruise” and “overall,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “individuals” for visitors and “increased about” when describing a figure. Some word choices make the meaning difficult to follow, including “the individuals about half million stayed on cruise.” There are also spelling errors, for example “particulary,” “freind” and “spent” where the intended form is “spend.” Aim for precise chart language and vary verbs for trends, such as “rose,” “remained stable” and “accounted for.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “Whereas the overall population, increased about 2.5 million,” but the longer attempts are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur in “the number of tourists visited were about 1 million” and “who were stayed on island.” Articles and sentence construction are also inconsistent, as in “stayed on island” and “the individuals increased about 1.5 million who were stayed.” Punctuation is sometimes awkward, with an unnecessary comma after “population” and no space after the full stop in “million.This.” These errors can make the data relationships hard to understand. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build clear comparisons using controlled clauses, for example, “The total rose to 2.5 million in 2014.”
