Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the broad overall trend: the number of tourists increased between 2010 and 2017. However, the response gives no figures and does not describe the two visitor categories or compare them, so it reports only a small part of the graph’s main information. The claim that there was a “huge difference” is not explained with evidence, and the comment that people showed interest in the island is an unsupported interpretation rather than a feature shown by the data. The response is also substantially below the required 150 words. To improve, give a clear overview and support it with key figures, such as the total rising from about 1 million to 3.5 million, while cruise-ship visitors grew more sharply than those staying on the island.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic progression from a general introduction to the period’s overall trend, and phrases such as “from 2010 to 2017” and “if we compare” signal the intended comparison. However, the ideas are compressed into one paragraph, with repeated statements that the number of tourists increased rather than a clear sequence of overview and supporting details. The reference to “these years” is vague, and the final comment about interest does not develop the comparison. Organise the report into a short introduction, an overview, and a paragraph comparing the two categories with selected figures. Use linking expressions to show contrast or change, rather than repeating the same trend.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “tourist,” “graph,” “data,” and “increased,” and the general meaning is usually understandable. However, the range is narrow and several words or phrases are inaccurate or misspelled, including “carabbean,” “continiously,” “peiple,” “intrest,” and “iceland.” “Huge difference” is also vague for describing numerical data, while “famous place for tourist” is not a precise or natural way to introduce the chart. Aim for accurate, task-specific language such as “visitor numbers,” “rose steadily,” and “approximately,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you describe the categories and compare their trends rather than relying on general statements.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the central idea using simple sentence patterns, and the phrase “from 2010 to 2017” gives a clear time frame. There are also attempts to connect ideas, for example, “if we compare the data…,” but the response relies almost entirely on basic structures and does not show much variety. Errors in sentence boundaries and capitalization occur throughout: “from 2010” begins a sentence without a capital, and “its means” is not correctly formed as a sentence. The present-tense forms in “the graph show” and “the number… increase” also need agreement and tense control. Practise writing complete, accurately punctuated sentences, and use past-tense reporting forms consistently when describing the years shown.
