Student answer (Band 5.5)

People will not purchase printed newspapers or books on upcoming days since they will get to read everything in online without paying they require to know. I agree to this statement because the availability of information, the nature of saving time and money while rading online.

Firstly, through online one can easily access to the newspapers or can know about everything. If a person wants to know about a information for urgent, he doesn't need to read or find through the hard copy. He can simply search about the topic and able to know the information. It is quite easy now. In the future, people will not buy newspapers or books beacuse they can easily get the news from online.

Additionally, through online we get knowledge which saves our money and time. When a person wants to buy a book, he needs to go to the shop or to order through online. It is time consuming. Everyone has not much time, since they can involve in job sectors or study. So, they can easily read from online and it will save their time. On the other hand, all of us wants to save money. Free things attracts more to people. As we don't need to pay money to read books or newspapers through online. They will encourage to gain knowledge or to know something from online.

To summarize, due to the availability of information, saving time and money through online, people will not buy printed newspapers or books. Though it has some detrimental effects like it will decrease our concentration and also the eagerness to know something due to the availability of knowledge. However, I think that nobody will buy printed books or newspapers in the future beacuse they will be able to read everything without paying on online.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that online access will replace printed newspapers and books, and you give relevant reasons about convenience, time and cost. The response addresses the main question and includes a brief qualification about possible effects on concentration. However, the reasons are not developed equally. The point about finding urgent information is explained with an example, while the claim that online reading saves time is less convincing because you also say a book can be ordered online without explaining why that is necessarily quicker. The conclusion repeats your position rather than drawing together the argument. To strengthen the response, explain how free online access may affect printed publishing and develop the counterpoint before reaffirming your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The sequence from easy access to savings is logical, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Additionally” and “To summarize” help readers follow the main stages. Cohesion is sometimes mechanical, however, and repeated references to “online” and “people” make the progression feel less smooth. Some links between ideas are unclear: the sentence about buying or ordering a book does not clearly support the claim that online reading saves time. The final paragraph introduces detrimental effects only briefly, so this qualification is not integrated into the argument. Use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the central ideas, including “availability of information,” “hard copy,” “time consuming” and “detrimental effects.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural or obscure meaning. For example, “on upcoming days” is not a natural way to refer to the future, “read everything in online” is awkward, and “the nature of saving time and money” does not clearly express your point. There are also spelling errors such as “rading” and “beacuse.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check common word partnerships. Replacing repeated general terms with expressions such as “digital publications” or “printed editions” would also improve variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If a person wants to know…” and a contrast introduced by “Though.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms occur across the response. For instance, the opening sentence joins several ideas without a clear grammatical structure, and “If a person wants to know about a information” has an article error. In “Everyone has not much time,” the word order is incorrect, while “all of us wants” shows a subject–verb agreement problem. Some sentences also lack a complete or well-formed clause, as in “Free things attracts more to people.” Practise accurate clause patterns, articles and agreement before adding further complexity.
