IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that in upcoming days any individuals will not show any interest to buy printed newspapers r books beacuse of the technological development.I completely agree with the idea that technological development has weekend the paper based informations.
There are a several reasons why i believe the improvement of technology will undermined the effectiveness of printed sources like books and newspaper. One possible reason is that online sources of reading has given the easy access of information compared to the traditional based sources. In fact,an individuals can access a large volumes of news, stories and information through a smartphone or tablets with a stable internet connection without any cost.Furthermore, reading books and newspaper in online is more efficient in contrast with reading printed materials because people can read latest news on their devices when they are stuck in traffic congestion.Without the development of technology none of this feasibility would have been possible.
In addition, development of technology has made possible to people update with the latest news instatly.Sometimes traditional source of reading like newspaper and magazines can never do.For instance, different news portals and websites sends the instant notification for the latest updated news.Besides, the paper quality of many books and newspapers is substandard so often time the pages turn yellow after a while, making them irritating to read. Finally, printed books and newspapers are not eco friendly practice because trees have to be cut down to produce papers. With the electronic form of reading this concern can easily been addressed.
In conclusion, considering the factor discussed above,I believe technological advancement will evantually take over the paper based source of reading.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I completely agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the central comparison by explaining online access, instant news updates, convenience, and environmental concerns, with examples such as reading on a smartphone and receiving notifications. These are relevant reasons, and the response covers the task. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that printed sources are less effective and the point about paper quality could be linked more directly to why people will stop buying them. The prompt also specifically predicts that online reading will be free; clarify whether you agree that this will be true for all desired content, rather than focusing mainly on current convenience and technology.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from access and convenience to speed, print quality, and environmental impact. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “In addition,” and “Finally” help signal this progression. At times, however, the connections feel mechanical, and some references are unclear. “Sometimes traditional source of reading like newspaper and magazines can never do” is an incomplete thought, so the relationship between it and the following example is difficult to follow. The second body paragraph also groups several distinct points without developing their links. Use complete topic sentences and clearer transitions that show how each reason supports your overall prediction.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “stable internet connection,” “instant notification,” “traditional sources,” and “eco friendly,” which allows you to discuss access, news, and environmental effects. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “technological advancement.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less natural: “weekend” appears to mean “weakened,” “paper based informations” is awkward, and “update with the latest news” is not idiomatic. Several ideas also rely on repeated terms such as “technology,” “reading,” and “sources.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling and word forms; this will make your argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional construction (“Without the development of technology none of this feasibility would have been possible”) and clauses introduced by “because” and “so.” The main ideas are usually understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “There are a several reasons,” “online sources … has given,” and “websites sends,” where article use or subject–verb agreement is incorrect. The sentence beginning “Sometimes traditional source…” is also incomplete, and “this concern can easily been addressed” has an incorrect verb form. Review agreement, articles, and verb patterns, and proofread sentence boundaries. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the control shown in your writing.
