IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the future, many people in the society will be able to read everything in the online without paying any amount of money while, there will be reduction in using the printed newspapers and books. I firmly agree that people in the society will be using the online websites to read the magazines because of the improved technology and various possibilities.
Firstly, there are popular websites used by the people. The few websites like Dailyhunt, Google chrome and Sharechat. In the past, many people used to communicate the news with the help of radios and printed newspapers while, in the present generation they are using different websites instead of using the printed newspapers and books. In the future, they will be using the new technology to read or listen to the news which will be free of charge. For instance, in the past, some children preferred to read the sunday books which would help them to read the stories and gain a few knowledge about the given topic.
Secondly, there are many uses of using the different websites to read the news through the online. There are various gadgets to read the newspapers and it is the easy way for the people to read. For example, many people in the world like to read the newspaper while travelling in the buses and railways which helps them to complete their time. Furthermore, it is easy to read the news in the online than in the printed newspapers and books.
To sum up, in the future nobody will buy the printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything in the online without paying any amount of money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the convenience of online reading, the arguments lack depth and specific evidence. For instance, the mention of 'Dailyhunt' and 'Google chrome' is a bit superficial, and the discussion on why people might stop paying for content is not fully explored. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the economic or social implications of free digital content versus the value of physical media, rather than just stating that it is 'easy' to read online.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'To sum up' to signpost your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'communicate the news with the help of radios'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically builds on the previous one would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'read the newspapers and books' and 'in the society'. There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'gain a few knowledge' (should be 'gain some knowledge') and 'in the online' (should be 'online'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to technology and media consumption.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the online', 'the newspapers') and preposition usage. Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'help them to complete their time' (a better phrase would be 'pass the time'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency of the essay. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct article usage will help improve your score.
