IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Student answer (Band 7.0)
In near future, people will choose to read books and newspapers online rather than buying a printed copy as everything is available online. In my opinion, this is the future of readers as it is cost effective and readers have easy access to multiple genre books, articles and multiple language and regional newspapers.
Furthermore, there are multiple reasons of people adapting to online books and newspapers instead of the printed copies. One of the primary reasons is it is much more cost effective than buying hardcopies. Many famous books that can cost thousands of rupees can be availed for free or by paying very little amount of money online. In addition, the inconvinience to phsyically visit a store or a library to buy a book is elliminated. Thus, it saves both time and money of a reader. There are a number of other pros of reading online such as they can read anytime and a hard copy of the book or newspaper need not to be carried along.
Along with this, there is no confusion of choosing out of multiple options rather they can access almost every material online. One major progress in this field that motivates reader especially the youth is the audio books. One literally doesn't need to read in order to gain knowledge. People can choose from multiple genre of books and articles like a biography, romatic, thrilled, general knowledge, phillosophy, business, personal development and many more. Almost every region and countries newspaper is available online for the reader.
In today's world, where everything is at fingure tips, it is very convinient that a wide range of articles, multi-language newspaper and multi-genre books are available online. The youth of today's time can be drawn towards reading more often. This helps frame the future generations success. To conclude, reading online is a very impactful, convinient and economical way to gain knowledge.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed the prompt by providing a clear opinion and supporting it with relevant arguments such as cost-effectiveness, convenience, and the variety of content available. Your position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the response could be improved by addressing the 'to what extent' aspect more critically. While you agree that online reading is the future, you do not fully explore the counter-argument or the potential limitations of this shift (e.g., the loss of physical books or the digital divide). To reach a higher band, ensure you acknowledge the complexity of the topic by briefly discussing why some might disagree or why printed media might still hold value.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the argument. You use transition words like 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, some cohesive devices are used in a slightly mechanical way, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the benefits of online reading and the mention of audiobooks could be better integrated. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cost-effective', 'eliminated', and 'impactful'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'inconvinience', 'phsyically', 'elliminated', 'fingure', 'convinient', and 'phillosophy'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, you should focus on proofreading your work to catch these basic spelling mistakes. While you attempt to use a variety of topic-related vocabulary, the recurring spelling issues limit your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'there are multiple reasons of people adapting' (should be 'reasons for people adapting') and 'a hard copy... need not to be carried' (should be 'need not be carried'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
